Anyone who’s driven between Kamloops and Alberta knows that the stretch through Chase can get a little congested. Well, good news! The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is hard at work widening Highway 1 through Chase to four lanes. This project is going to make a HUGE difference in terms of safety and travel time.
This isn’t just about adding extra lanes. The project includes:
A new overpass: This will eliminate the at-grade intersection at Chase Creek Road, improving traffic flow and safety.
Wider shoulders: More room for vehicles to maneuver, especially important for emergency vehicles.
Improved access to local roads and businesses: The project includes better connections to Chase’s side streets.
Better pedestrian and cyclist facilities: This includes wider sidewalks, dedicated bike lanes, and improved crossings, making it safer and easier for everyone to get around.
This project is a major investment in our region’s transportation infrastructure, and it’s going to have a positive impact on our economy and quality of life for years to come. Next time you’re driving that way, check out the progress on the new overpass and the impressive retaining walls they’re building!
